The History of Pago

1888

The Austrian Jakob Pagitz founded the company together with his brother Franz. The first classical flavours, apple, blackcurrant and redcurrant were created.

1920

Jakob Pagitz Junior joined the parental business and developed a unique juice press technique.

1949

The brand PAGO was born: from the first three letters from the company founder and the first letter of the German word for fruit – Obst.

1977

Austrian’s biggest brewery company takes over Pago, providing the platform and valuable network for Pago to enter the gastronomy market across the whole of Austria.

1989

Pago rises as the market leader in the Austrian gastronomy market and discovers potential outside the boarders for the first time. The distinctive international green glass bottle with its yellow lid is born.

2002

Pago enters Europe and becomes widely available in 16 European countries and in some large markets is represented by its own distribution companies. In the Out-of-Home business Pago also becomes market leader in Italy, Croatia and France.

2013

Pago celebrates its 125 years anniversary. The brand is taken over from Eckes-Granini which has now an international Out-of-Home-brand in its portfolio.
